Right around the time of new Google updates, SEO writers and bloggers alike fear the apocalypse. This comes with good reason as people have always been afraid of the unknown. However, Google updates such as “Penguin” & “Panda” has attempted to benefit Organic SEO and put power back into natural SEO practices.
Google updates have put stricter stipulations on link farming, dishonest link building and the over all ranking power from incoming links. Attempting to offer a level playing field these changes have focused on meta-data and page content. This has boosted the need for professional SEO expertise across all markets.
As a result of this demand for SEO & Internet Marketing specialists, the industry has seen a drastic increase in funding in 2012. In the midst of declining rumors, SEO companies have raised over $100 Million over the course of 2012. The SEO landscape is growing at a rate unseen in previous years and businesses are taking full advantage.
According to the 2012 Tech 200, during the course of 2009 – 2011 SEO companies has seen the highest revenue percentage increase of any technology start ups in comparison. Some of the most profitable companies include Marketo, SEOMoz, InfusionSoft, Yodle, and Hubspot.
So what does all of this mean? What can we expect for the future of SEO? If Google continues to support honest SEO efforts and trends in online marketing continue to increase, then we can expect a bright future for SEO.
