Link building is a misunderstood giant when it comes to search engine rankings. Essentially it can be the deciding factor between placing your website ahead of a competitors in the search engines. When Search Engine Optimization takes you to the door steps of ranking higher, link-building will be a tool that you will need to use to climb the stairs.
What is link-building? Well… everybody has their own entitled opinion, but more or less it is basically just building up your links. Whether it is through exchanging links with another website, or connecting your Facebook account to your website, link-building is crucial to online success.
i could easily ramble on about how you should link build, when you should link build, and why… but I will save you the pain for now and just educate you on the basics. There are three types of link-building
1. One-Way Links – When another website not owned by you links to your website by referencing it with header tags or just mentions it. Example: www.google.ca is an excellent major search engine when looking for anything online.
2. Reciprocal Links – When you exchange links with another website so that both websites receive compensation. This is usually the most common pro-active form of link-building. Example: I post here that www.google.ca is an excellent major search engine, and www.google.ca posts on their blog that www.naturalclick.ca is an excellent mississauga SEO company.
3. Three-Way Links – When you exchange links with another website and instead of using your primary or main site to link them back, you use an alternative website. This essentially creates a one-way link to your main site and a one-way link to their website. Example: I post here that www.google.ca is an excellent major search engine and link them, and www.google.ca uses www.youtube.com to link to me. This way, both parties receive one way links (the most powerful form of linking).
I would suggest exploring all types of link building and attempt to exchange links with other websites that rank well and are relative to your products or services.
